which is hilarious they think I have a degree in computer hacking. Uplay customer service told me they "strongly urged against the use of vpn to access their servers" and that I needed to "fix my local internet settings" by "forwarding ports".

It's such a hassle to use a vpn if all you need it for is to download and update one game. I went through all this with assassins creed odyssey and vowed not to buy from Uplay again. Some file host sites are just a total PITA with no possibility of pause-resume: if you try that you'll just get an alert saying "download error- file missing or unavailable." If only that one host site has the file, you have no choice other than to try the download from scratch again and again until it hopefully completes.I bought crew 2 on the epic store thinking I could avoid this issue but no, I still can't download or update the game without using a vpn service (Epic downloads the game, then uplay makes you redownload it). If I want the file badly enough, I'll try downloading via a different web browser (and other filehost if available). It may result in an unstable video missing the final 10 seconds, but its better than nothing (assuming the file can never be downloaded 100%). I'd say maybe 20% of the time, I can get the partial download to work by changing the file extension to whatever file type it is supposed to be (.mp4 or whatever). Having a backup at least keeps that option, even though odds of getting it to work are not good.

I make a safety copy before pause-resume because if pause-resume fails most browsers automatically delete the file before you can try to make it work. If it doesn't, I go back to my safety copy and mess with it awhile to see if I can make it open (usually doesn't work).

Pause-resume works in maybe 50-60% of stuck downloads. If not, then I drag-copy it to another folder to make a safety copy, then go back to my browser and try filmboss80's pause-resume trick. mkv etc) and icon, I'll double click to see if it opens properly.

If the file appears in Windows Explorer or OSX Finder with the correct file extension (.rar.mp4. When I encounter this 99% bug on a large file that may have taken three hours to download, the first thing I do is check to see if the download might actually have completed 100% despite the 99% indication (this has been happening more often lately). Understand, these file host sites are not particularly interested in us successfully downloading anything: their primary business is selling click bait access to malware seeders.

It is somewhat more likely to succeed if the file is an actual file, less if an rar or zip archive. filmboss80's suggestion usually works, its what I do myself in this situation, but no one can promise you it will work 100% of the time. And remedied it every time by simply pausing the download for a few seconds, then resuming.īut do you know if such procedure can be done using sites like Uploaded or Deposit files, for example? They allow this action without "losing" data? I do not want to lose all the already downloaded content if I need to play / pause / resume procedure again.
